Celebrating the 92nd birthday of the recently deceased music legend: eight of Quincy's most famous albums for the first time as audiophile SHM CDs (original Japanese imports with Obi strips). SHM CDs use a special pressing material that ensures improved transparency and sound definition.

Quincy Jones’ album classic “The Quintessence” from 1962 was his only album for Impulse! Records. A critic called it "the sound of the modern, progressive big band at its pinnacle". The band consists of brilliant musicians such as Freddie Hubbard, Clark Terry, Thad Jones, Oliver Nelson, Phil Woods and Milt Hinton. With a taut and punchy brass section, cool reeds, and a finger-snapping groove, this is still one of Quincy’s most beloved big band albums.
