Just four months after "I Put A Spell On You", the follow-up album "Pastel Blues" was released in 1965, on which Nina Simone once again presented two songs that immediately became audience favorites alongside two classics from Billie Holiday's repertoire ("Tell Me More And More And Then Some" and "Strange Fruit"): "Be My Husband", written by her then-husband (and later recorded by Jeff Buckley in 1993 for his posthumously released double album "Live At Sin-é" under the title "Be Your Husband"), and the mesmerizing "Sinnerman", used for countless film and television soundtracks and reworked by Felix da Housecat for the popular "Verve Remixed" series. When soul and R&B singer Alicia Keys revealed her "25 favorite albums" to the culture magazine Complex in 2012, "Pastel Blues" was at the top of the list.

VERVE ACOUSTIC SOUNDS SERIES: Stereo, mastered fully analogue from the original tapes by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound, QPR pressing (180 g), firm tip-on gatefold (Stoughton Printing), padded inner sleeve.
