These days, it's almost forgotten that jazz recordings also appeared on 45 rpm singles in the last century, not least to fill popular jukeboxes. This strictly limited special edition of the Blue Note Tone Poet series brings together, on three LPs, all the singles with which tenor saxophonist Ike Quebec celebrated a resounding comeback on Blue Note Records starting in 1959. With these singles, Quebec built on his successes of the mid-1940s, when he earned a reputation at Blue Note as the "King of Jukebox Hits." As always with the Tone Poet series, the three-LP set was produced by Joe Harley and cut entirely by analog by Kevin Gray, directly from Rudy Van Gelder's original master tapes. Pressed on 180g vinyl by RTI, the LPs are packaged in a luxurious triple gatefold sleeve, which also includes a booklet with previously unpublished photos by Francis Wolff and an extensive essay by Loren Schoenberg.
