In the early 1980s, Quincy Jones owed the A&M label an album, but that didn't stop him from going full throttle on the production of "The Dude." Featuring sensational musicians including Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Ernie Watts and Michael Jackson, and an infectious funk sound, the album reached No. 10 on the Billboard Pop, No. 3 on the Billboard Jazz and Billboard R&B charts. Three successful US singles were released, "Just Once", "One Hundred Ways" (singer James Ingram's debut) and "Ai No Corrida". "Razzamatazz", on the other hand, reached number 11 in the UK singles charts, one of the few Quincy Jones' chart hits in that country. "The Dude" was nominated for twelve Grammy Awards (including Album of the Year) and won four.
