With co-stars such as João Gilberto, Antônio Carlos Jobim, Charlie Byrd, Luiz Bonfá and Astrud Gilberto, tenor saxophonist Stan Getz recorded several albums in small line-ups in the early 1960s, which are among the classics of bossa nova. In 1962, however, he also surprised with a bossa album in big band style, for which the brilliant Gary McFarland wrote rousing arrangements.
