Diana Krall's album "Christmas Songs" was first released at Christmas 2005. The Canadian singer and pianist, who is sometimes said to be a bit cool, recorded her Christmas album with a lot of enthusiasm and enormous swing. This production is a kind of affair of the heart for Diana Krall: she always wanted to make a swing Christmas record in the style of the great idols. She has now achieved this, assisted on the one hand by her actual band with guitar and bassist, and on the other hand by the Clayton Hamilton Jazz Orchestra.
Of course, she chose the American classics par excellence for her Christmas CD, from "Winter Wonderland" to "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" and "White Christmas". Nothing against the well-known version of Bing Crosby, but no one has ever whispered "White Christmas" like Diana Krall. In the title "Jingle Bells" she scats for the first time on a record - you can really notice her fun in the matter.
The Hessischer Rundfunk wrote in a review: "Christmas songs are already a very well-trodden terrain. All the more beautiful when someone manages to produce something stylish here. The jazz queen Diana Krall has succeeded."
