A masterpiece of funk and fusion jazz - remastered for the first time on double vinyl!
Of course, Till Brönner needs no introduction. But perhaps some of his many fans have not yet discovered "Midnight," the brilliant album recorded early in his career, prior to successful releases like "Chattin' With Chet," "That Summer" and "Oceana," and before he received a Grammy nomination and three ECHO Jazz awards.
In 1995, the then 24-year-old trumpeter had the opportunity to record an album in the USA with musicians of his choice. "Midnight” features the amazing sidemen Michael Brecker, certainly the best tenor saxophonist of his generation, guitarist Dean Brown, bassist Anthony Jackson, drummer Dennis Chambers and Weather Report percussionist Manolo Badrena plus David Mann from Tower of Power and George Whitty from the Brecker Brothers Band.
"Midnight” was released on an independent label in early 1997 and did not yet generate the international attention it deserved. Now the soulful, timeless album, about which AllMusic writes in its four-star review that it is "not only a high point in Brönner's catalog, but a shining light in contemporary jazz", returns as a remastered 2 x 180g double LP in gatefold sleeve.
