Jazz singer Mel Tormé, who was not only popular but also admired by many colleagues, was called “The Velvet Fog” because of his mesmerizing voice. He was world class both as a sensitive crooner and with breathtaking scat improvisations. On his debut album for Verve, recorded in 1958, he shows himself beautifully alternating from one side to the other, supported by arrangements by the legendary West Coast musician Marty Paich.

VERVE ACOUSTIC SOUNDS SERIES: Stereo, mastered fully analogue from the original tapes by Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound, QPR pressing (180 g), firm tip-on gatefold (Stoughton Printing), padded inner sleeve.
