His music was always spontaneous, captivating, funky, and full of energy, yet Blue Note legend Horace Silver only released one live album during his lifetime. That's changing now! In August 1965, the pianist dazzled with a particularly innovative lineup at Seattle's Penthouse Jazz Club, featuring Woody Shaw on trumpet, Joe Henderson on tenor saxophone, Teddy Smith on bass, and Roger Humphries on drums. The recently discovered recording is celebrating its world premiere under the title "Silver in Seattle: Live at the Penthouse." On it, the band delivers sizzling interpretations of Silver-classics such as "Song For My Father," "Cape Verdean Blues," and "The Kicker," among others.
